Recap of Monday’s Miami Dolphins Practice in FULL PADS

The Miami Dolphins had their fifth training camp practice on Monday, their first in full pads this year, with hitting (although no tackling).

This practice was also open to the general public, so here are some highlights of today’s action.

Malik Willis ran for a short gain on a read option play

De’Von Achane ran right for a short gain

Cam Miller hit Anthony Hankerson for a first down on a short pass

Ollie Gordon broke off a long run of roughly 50 or so yards.

Zane Gonzalez and Riley Patterson both hit field goals from 50+ yards

Willie Gay had a tackle for loss, bringing down Carlos Washington

Carlos Washington had a run that went for about 25 yards or so

Malik Willis was forced to throw the ball away on a play as nobody was open

Cam Miller hit Seydou Traore for about 10 yards on an out route

Kadyn Proctor had a false start

Zach Sieler sacked Malik Willis

David Ojabo sacked Quinn Ewers

Chris Johnson blew up a running play in the backfield; Ollie Gordon was the ball carrier

Clelin Ferrell had a “would-be-sack” on Malik Willis

Jaylen Wright tried to jump over Alex Austin, and Wright was flipped upside down.

Mark Gronowski hit Tahj Washington for a deep pass on a crossing route

Jason Marshall Jr punched the ball out of the hands of Ben Sims

Caleb Douglas had a drop, but the pass was a bit low by Willis. Still should have been caught in the eyes of many there watching

Anthony Hankerson ran up the middle for a very short gain

Dolphins ran a drill where the ball was placed on the 30-yard line with 1:20 on the clock; Willis hit passes to Jalen Reagor, Cole Turner, and De’Von Achane. Then Riley Patterson came on and hit a 50-yard field goal.

Alex Huntly swatted a pass at the line of scrimmage

Malik Willis hit De’Von Achane for a swing pass for about 8 or 9 yards

Ethan Bonner intercepted a Quinn Ewers pass intended for TuTu Atwell

Chop Robinson beat Charlie Heck for a sack

On the very next play, Chop beat Heck again, but Willis was able to get the pass off at the last second

Zeek Biggers got pressure on the quarterback, rushing from the EDGE

Zane Gonzalez hit a 43-yard FG; Riley Patterson missed the same 43-yard FG

Quinn Ewers tried to hit Kevin Coleman Jr on a deep pass, but Ethan Bonner broke it up

Tyrel Dodson intercepted a Malik Willis pass

Marco Wilson punched the ball out of the hands of Terrace Marshall Jr on a play where Marshall made a catch and was 20 yards downfield. Ollie Gordon recovered the fumble.

Willie Gay blew up a running play in the backfield

Jordyn Brooks had tight coverage on a Malik Willis pass to De’Von Achane that went incomplete

Jalen Tolbert, while trying to make a catch, lay on the ground for a while and was slow to get up. He was able to walk to the sideline on his own and did return to practice but it was a scary moment.

OVERALL TAKEAWAYS

The Dolphins’ defensive line dominated Miami’s offensive line on the day.

Quinn Ewers had his best day of practice thus far after struggling through the first four practices of this training camp.

Malik Washington and Malik Willis are finding some nice chemistry on pass plays through the first five practices
