Russell Wilson Comments On Disappointing Season With Broncos
Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The 2022 Denver Broncos are perhaps the biggest disappointment of the NFL season.

They traded a plethora of assets to land Russell Wilson and finally revamp their ever-struggling offense to become a legit contender.

But HC Nathaniel Hackett looked over his head since the start, and Wilson was a shell of his old self for most of the season.

The former Super Bowl champion eventually bounced back and put together some strong performances, but the team was already out of playoff contention.

So, looking back, Wilson knows he failed to live up to his standards, especially after signing such a big contract.

“I think that it’s been a journey,” Wilson said postgame. “It’s a lot of new. It’s a lot of change; a lot of obstacles, and everything else you need to try and to find that magic within every game, every play, every moment. Sometimes you’ve got to keep searching for it and keep working at it and keep building it and understanding that everything works together. I know that I feel like I fell short of my own standards and my own level of expectations, what I know how to do and how I love to do it. I just want to recapture that.”

Wilson has been one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league for years now, so his regression was as surprising as it was worrisome.

Still, the Broncos will need to stick by him for the foreseeable future, hoping their new Head Coach can finally turn things around for the franchise.
