Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson will have his calf injury evaluated on Sunday ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.
It’s “more likely,” that Justin Fields will start, per the report.
Wilson suffered his calf injury during training camp, and the lingering ailment flared up leading into Week 1. Reports on Friday stated that the Steelers were trended toward starting Fields once Wilson’s calf flared up despite head coach Mike Tomlin announcing Wilson would be the main quarterback for Sunday’s opener.
According to Rapoport, Wilson “barely did anything,” on Friday at practice and was not on the field when reporters were viewing the team’s practice.
