On September 8, Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid addressed Xavier Worthy’s shoulder injury for the first time since the team’s preseason clash with the Los Angeles Chargers. The second-year WR dislocated his shoulder on the third play of Friday’s game after colliding with TE Travis Kelce and did not return. With Rashee Rice suspended and Jalen Royals still working back from a knee issue, KC’s depth at wideout has been tested again.
Speaking to the media, Reid described Worthy’s rehab as ongoing and declined to give a timetable, saying the team is taking it day by day.
“I know Xavier is the big question. He’s rehabbing and working his shoulder. We’ll just see where it goes, day-by-day here. We’ll see where we end up!”

Even though it sounds pretty bad at this point, no further updates were made. Plus, there have been several rumors that the Chiefs are looking to bring back Tyreek Hill. Also, Andy Reid said Royals is progressing but not yet cleared for Sunday.
“Jalen’s done a good job with his rehab. We’ll just see how that ends up this week. Guys are making progress. We’ll see where it rolls. If neither play, we’ve got the guys that we played with the other night that are good football players.”
Kansas City faces the Philadelphia Eagles at 3:25 p.m. Sunday on FOX4.
The Chiefs may head into Week 2 without their leading wideouts. On Sunday’s NFL GameDay Morning (Sept. 8), NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the team is preparing for Xavier Worthy to miss time but remains hopeful he can play with a fitted brace.

Worthy, the 2024 first-round pick, dislocated his shoulder in a collision with Travis Kelce on the third play of Friday’s 27-21 loss to the Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. The injury came while Kansas City was already without Rashee Rice, who’s serving a six-game suspension.
The Chiefs will lean on Marquise Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, and Kelce as they prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles.
