Shocking New Details Emerge From Tony Romo’s Arrest

New information has come out about the arrest of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS broadcaster Tony Romo in Wisconsin.

According to FOX 6 Milwaukee, deputies stopped Romo earlier this week during a traffic stop on Interstate 43. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office reportedly pulled him over while he was driving south on the highway. Deputies then asked him to take standard field sobriety tests. The report says Romo did not perform well on those tests, which led to his arrest.

Authorities reportedly cited Romo for operating a vehicle while under the influence. According to the outlet, the offense is not considered a criminal charge. He could face a fine of $150 to $300, along with a $435 OWI surcharge.

Romo Came From A Golf Tournament Before The Arrest

Romo was arrested at around 6:15 p.m. local time. The latest report also sheds light on what he was doing earlier that day.

Romo had spent the day playing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship in West Bend. Since retiring from the NFL, he has become well known for his golf game. However, he did not have a strong tournament this time, finishing in a tie for 73rd place.

The reported arrest has also led to questions about Romo’s future with CBS. According to The Athletic, the network didn’t comment anything about the situation.

Romo joined CBS in 2017 and has been the network’s lead NFL analyst alongside Jim Nantz ever since. As of now, nothing has changed regarding his role for the 2026 NFL season.

He is still expected to call Week 1 games with Nantz. However, he is also scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21.

So far, CBS has not announced any changes to its broadcast plans, and Romo is expected to remain in his role while the legal process continues.
