2026 Hall of Honor class revealed

Every year, fans have individuals they hope to see added to the Hall of Honor. The inclusion of former general manager Kevin Colbert received mixed reaction across social media. Many fans expressed frustration with how Colbert managed the NFL Draft in his final years with the team.

Meanwhile, the addition of Craig Wolfley received a lot of love from fans. There had long been a “Tunch & Wolf” bond between Wolfley and lifelong best friend, former teammate, and broadcast partner, the late Tunch Ilkin. Ilkin was inducted into the Steelers Hall of Honor as a member of the Class of 2021. Now both men will long be remembered by fans who visit the hall as well

J.T. Thomas was a cornerback (1973-81) that was a core member of the Steelers when the ‘Steel Curtain’ defense was getting the most love – especially up front. “The union and bond that was created that you don’t get in most organizations, where players come together in harmony. That feeling is hard to describe,” Thomas was quoted by Teresa Varley.

“It was the people in Pittsburgh I got to know, the relationships I formed. It’s something you can’t put a value on. That is something I treasure more than the Super Bowls. They were great and unique. But when you look at your life you don’t do this by yourself. There were so many people that played a role. I give credit to so many people for who I am.

Seeing the players in person

Fans got the opportunity to finally put eyes on the players in person and that has the energy elevated amongst Steelers Nation. The kids at camp have been elated to get the chance to see heroes and meet new additions to the team.

There was a recent incident that should be a good reminder to adult fans, though. While Pat Freiermuth was signing autographs, two adult men got into it requiring Freiermuth to pick up a toddler. After things settled down, the tight end stopped signing autographs.

Note to adults: let the kids get the autographs and don’t be a yinzer jagoff.

Savage out, Jenkins in

On Sunday, the Steelers signed safety Rayshawn Jenkins to a one-year contract while releasing safety Darnell Savage.

Jenkins (University of Miami) was originally selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2017 NFL Draft. He last played with the Cleveland Browns.

Jenkins has appeared in 139 career games, starting 92. He has recorded 562 tackles, 363 of them solo stops, 34 passes defensed and 20 tackles for a loss. He also added 11 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, five and a half sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, including one he returned 102 yards for a touchdown.
