Turns out, Hell hath no fury like Tee Higgins' mother scorned.
The Cincinnati Bengals made a huge commitment to winning this offseason, most notably be giving contract extensions to elite receivers Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase. Higgins received a four-year, $115 million contract while Chase got four yeaars and $161 million to make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.
While most league experts - and quarterback Joe Burrow - hailed the moves, a couple of TV talking heads over at FS1 questioned the strategy. Both criticisms caught the eye, ear and wrath of Higgins' mother, Lady Stewart.
"It's not that Tee Higgins didn't deserve to get paid, I'm just surprised they paid him in Cincinnati," Joy Taylor said on an episode of Speak. "If you're serious about winning championships, yes, you have to have high-level talent on the offensive side of the ball. But you have to have some semblance of a defense as well."
The Bengals agree, and are also negotiating a way to keep NFL sacks leader Trey Hendrickson in the fold.
Higgins' mom clapped back at Taylor on her social media, writing "Harpo who dis woman."
But Taylor wasn't the only FS1 personality who wound up in his Stewart's crosshairs.. She also ripped Nick Wright for saying, "I don’t think this is the best path forward for them to win a championship."
"Shut up (bleep), oops I mean Nick," she wrote.
Higgins got his money. Now his mother is making sure he also gets his flowers.
