Happy 40th birthday to three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl LIII MVP, Julian Edelman!

Edelman was selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Kent State and for his first four seasons was little more than a gadget receiver and punt returner. But in 2013 he exploded, blowing his previous career-highs out of the water with 105 catches for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns. 

While he never earned a Pro Bowl nod, Edelman was a key cog in the second Patriots dynasty under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. He led the playoffs in receptions four times and receiving yards three times. In the three Super Bowls he was a contributor, he was an important one. He combined for 24 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown in his three Super Bowl victories, including a famous catch to keep the Patriots historic 28-3 rally alive against the Atlanta Falcons. 

Edelman retired after the 2020 season with 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns in 11 NFL seasons – all with New England.
