Even in retirement, NFL legend Tom Brady has faced adversity. However, it's a bit different from what he dealt with on the gridiron.
In May 2024, Netflix released "The Roast of Tom Brady." There were plenty of ruthless jokes made by Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser, Tony Hinchcliffe, Tom Segura and other comedians.
Unsurprisingly, Brady's divorce from Gisele Bundchen was a hot topic during this comedy special. Glaser even took a few jabs at Bundchen having a relationship with her jiu-jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente.
On the latest episode of the "Impaulsive" podcast, Brady opened up about the Netflix roast. He admit that he messed up by agreeing to this event.
The main reason why Brady regrets signing up for the Netflix roast is because he didn't fully take his children's feelings into account.
"It was tough on my kids for sure," Brady said. "I love laughing at myself—it felt like I was in the locker room and the harder people go at me I actually love it. I don’t take myself too serious, but I do understand for my kids it was really hard."
Brady's kids asked him this question after the roast was over: What was the point of that?
"I talked to my kids the next day and I felt like, a stake through the heart," the seven-time Super Bowl champion continued. "And understandably, you know, they’re protective. They’re protected of their mom, of their dad. Of everybody, you know."
Despite having regrets about his decision, Brady believes those who participated in the roast did a wonderful job.
"The performances were incredible and when you were in that moment, in that theater at the Forum, it was electric. It was crazy. We got done, everybody was on cloud nine and that moment I’ll never forget."
Kudos to Brady for handling this situation with grace.
