Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a serious knee injury during Monday night's game against the New York Jets, and he now has a very long road to recovery.
Hill was carted off the field after he made a catch on third down in the third quarter of the Dolphins' 27-21 win over the Jets at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla. It was clear that he had suffered a significant injury, though the severity was not immediately known.
Some new details surfaced on Tuesday morning. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Hill dislocated his left knee and has multiple torn ligaments, including a torn ACL.
The 31-year-old was scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday. Hill's knee injury is so severe that there is no guarantee he will be cleared to play at the start of the 2026 season.
With surgery today, it’s possible that Tyreek Hill will undergo additional surgeries. There is no guarantee he’ll be ready for the 2026 season.

Hill is protected contractually, with $11M (of $29.9M) in 2026 becoming fully guaranteed in March, along with a $5M roster bonus. https://t.co/E9WkfEjzPA
The Dolphins improved to 1-3 with their win over New York. Head coach Mike McDaniel has insisted the team believes it can turn things around after a rough start to the season, but that will now be even more difficult to do.
Hill had six catches on Monday night before getting hurt. He will finish the season with 21 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown. Though Hill had lost some of his explosion, he was still Miami's leading receiver. Its offense had already been struggling, and will have even more issues without him.
There had been rumors since the start of the season that Hill could be traded. The Dolphins opted to keep him in hopes that they would get back on track, but the former All-Pro is now done for the year.
