Vita Vea’s Buccaneers’ Contract Details Revealed

Vita Vea and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to a one-year, $30 million extension on August 22, 2026.

The contract includes $46 million in guarantees, including $28 million in new-money guarantees. All $46 million is fully guaranteed at signing.

Vea received a $21.7 million bonus as part of the agreement. His $1.3 million salary for 2026 is fully guaranteed at signing.

His $23 million salary for 2027 is also fully guaranteed. The contract also includes annual per-game bonuses worth $1 million each year.

Buccaneers Create Immediate Cap Relief

The Buccaneers used three void years to create immediate salary-cap relief. That move reduced Vea’s 2026 salary-cap number by $11.36 million.

However, the strategy comes with a future cost for Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers will have just over $13 million in dead money after the contract voids.

That dead money will come after Vea’s deal ends following the 2027 season. For now, though, Tampa Bay gets significant cap relief from the extension.

The structure gives the Buccaneers more financial flexibility in 2026. It also pushes some of the contract’s salary-cap consequences into the future.
