Nobody likes the quick turnaround on a short week, and the Washington Commanders came into the game with a rather healthy team aside from Tress Way and Deatrich Wise. It was going to take a full team effort to beat a team like the Green Bay Packers, and it seemed like they would get just that, but that would change in the second quarter.
The worst part about football is the injuries, and the Commanders suffered a big one in the second quarter against the Packers on Thursday Night Football. Starting defensive end Deatrich Wise was questionable heading into the game with a knee injury, and he was cleared to start after working out before the game.
Deatrich Wise is getting in a pre-game workout in front of head athletic trainer Al Bellamy. He was listed as questionable for tonight's game because of a knee inury.

Wise playing was a big deal for a banged-up Packers' offensive line, but he suffered a scary injury in the second quarter and left the game. He was on the field for a Packers extra point, and he got through the line, but a Packers offensive lineman fell on the back of his leg, and he went down in visible pain. Players from both teams took a knee, and the cart had to come out for Wise.

We don't know the exact injury or severity of it, but we did see an emotion Wise leave on the cart with an air cast on his leg. The Commanders have provided an update that Wise is OUT for the rest of the game with a quad injury.
Wise is a big piece of the defense as one of the veteran starters on the defensive line, and he helps stop the run and set the tone. He had a solid showing last week against the New York Giants to start the season, and is a big loss tonight. We will get more updates from head coach Dan Quinn either after the game or when the team returns to Ashburn.
