Hi, I'm Matt Williamson with Yardbarker here to talk about the Tennessee Titans and the Titans are team that I'm really warming up to and surely will pick them to win the AFC South.
I'm pretty pretty confident in them right now. I don't think last year was a fluke, And while Ryan Tannehill's remarkable efficiency last year won't keep up, he isn't a fluke, either. I was a fan of him in his time with the Dolphins.
The Titans were very well constructed with their roster and very well coached. I think they're here to stay. They didn't make sweeping changes this offseason, but did pretty well to keep their own and fill the blanks that were created in free agency.
Well, I do believe Tannehill is legit. Obviously, the offense flows through Derrick Henry, but I also think A J. Brown is on the verge of stardom, Jonnu Smith is ready for a break out, and Corey Davis is a lot better than generally given credit for as well.
The offense was outstanding in the red zone and on first downs, and overall they averaged a half or more yards on offense in their defense allowed last year.
But the Tribune noted, they faced a very easy group of opposing defenses. Tennessee was quite bad on special teams, but we're one of the least injured teams in the league.
Those two trends could regress to the mean without question, good and bad.
Two areas that they need to improve is with the red zone defense, though as well as allowing far too many sacks, which at least partially falls on Tannehill's shoulders.
The Titans do play a very cushy schedule this year and have a few excellent defenders like Kevin Byars, Harold Landry and J.R. Brown that should soon be household names. And don't be surprised if Jeffrey Simmons, last year's first-round pick, quickly becomes an elite defensive tackle.
Tennessee could be primed to take yet another step forward in 2020 and they're gonna be my pick in the AFC South.
Thanks so much. I am Matt Williamson with Yardbarker.
