Browns QB Deshaun Watson continues to deal with a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined since Week 4. So, how likely is it that the three-time Pro Bowler plays when Cleveland takes on the Colts (3-3) in Week 7?
There seems to be less and less confidence by the day that Watson will play, and he wasn't willing to commit to anything Wednesday either.
"I'm not going to put the team in jeopardy if I can't do certain things," Watson told reporters. "It's not so much the pain, it's more so if I can throw the football."
Some may question his toughness following his recent comments, especially because he was medically cleared to play in the Browns' Week 4 matchup against the Ravens.
However, the injury is reported to affect Watson's throwing mechanics over anything else.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Watson is dealing with a deep rotator cuff contusion that has made it difficult for him to drive the football when he throws.
Nonetheless, Watson must find a way to be back in the lineup sooner than later because backup quarterbacks P.J. Walker and Dorian Thompson-Robinson have combined for just 313 passing yards and five interceptions in Watson's absence.
The defense has been carrying the team, ranking as the best team in total yards allowed per game (200.4) and the fifth-best team in points allowed per game (15.4). But the offense will need to play better at some point if it hopes to reach its Super Bowl aspirations in 2023.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team is going to "be smart" with Watson's injury but every game counts in a competitive AFC North and only three of the Browns' 12 remaining opponents (1-5 Cardinals, 1-5 Broncos and 1-5 Bears) currently have a losing record.
