The Tennessee Titans have put third-year quarterback Will Levis into an unfortunate situation. After selecting him with a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, he started 21 games across two seasons for the team.
Unfortunately, the Titans were only able to muster three wins with Levis under center last year, which led to them having the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite elite players like Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter being available, new general manager Mike Borgonzi opted for quarterback Cam Ward.
With Ward being the presumed starter now, the writing is on the wall for Levis, who is still under contract for the next two seasons.
After being an early draft pick and the Titans seemingly giving up on him after two seasons -- neither of which he was the full-time starter -- Levis has every reason to be upset as a young professional. He spoke to the media on Wednesday about the situation he has found himself in.
"Anyone that's ever been in my situation knows it sucks," Levis said. "I'm just trying to do my best to keep a positive mindset and play QB when I'm asked to play."
Levis may not be asked to play quarterback this season in Tennessee unless something goes dramatically awry. There is still a looming question about why head coach Brian Callahan has not named Ward the starter already, but this seems more like a formality than an honest quarterback competition.
The Titans will face off against an elite defense in Week 1 when they take on the Denver Broncos on the road. Ideally, rookie Cam Ward is ready to go by then, but it seems like Levis is ready to step in if need be.
