Heading into the weekend, the Saskatchewan Roughriders add a former star college football quarterback by signing Jack Coan on Friday. Coan played in the XFL last year for the San Antonio Brahmas.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly told reporters Thursday that Coan split time taking first-team practice reps with backup Drew Pyne this week but is improving from the setback.
Coan entered the transfer portal in December 2020 after throwing for 3,278 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions in his three-year career with Wisconsin.

ESPN's Tom VanHaaren reported early Thursday evening that the Wisconsin Badgers football program is up to 16 active COVID-19 cases after two additional staff members and one student-athlete tested positive. Wisconsin has temporarily paused all football activities due to the virus outbreak.
