Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Mark Gilbert is heading back for his second season in the United Football League, joining the Memphis Showboats for the 2025 season, it was announced on Monday.
Mark Gilbert stuck on with the Pittsburgh Steelers after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in the 2021 season. However, after making the team’s practice squad, he was poached off it by the Detroit Lions.
Once an All-ACC cornerback, Gilbert tallied six interceptions back in 2017 but missed most of the 2018 season and all of 2019 after he suffered a dislocated left hip during a game at Northwestern on Sept. 8, 2018.
