The 1980 Oakland Raiders became the first National Football League wild-card team to go all the way and win the Super Bowl, but not even every fan of Raider Nation remembers that it took them four games to accomplish the feat.
It’s been almost a year since we lost the bright smile of a truly nice man and a true Raider warrior: safety Mike Davis. He played in 107 regular-season games, with 83 starts, for the Raiders.
The Las Vegas Raiders made an impressive surge down the stretch this season by winning four straight games to earn a Wild Card berth, but unfortunately, they didn’t come close to the achievement of the 1980 Oakland Raiders.
