Canadiens: RDS announces it will remain the official French-language broadcaster for several years

Next year, there will be 84 games per club in the NHL. But for the Canadiens, it was still unclear how many games would be on which channel, and now the answer is in: RDS has announced that it will remain the official French-language broadcaster for the next several years. And 45 Canadiens games will be on RDS – instead of 60.

TSN, on the other hand, will have 50 Habs games. Why the five-game difference? The question arises, but it’s safe to assume that some of these duels will end up on a broadcast platform. Why? Because Geoff Molson has said that “the vast majority” of games should be broadcast on cable. Does this mean that the five games of difference could be on a platform? Maybe. We don’t know.

Let’s remember that 39 other games, at least 34 of which are national rights games, are still on the market. Will TVA Sports and/or Amazon get them? We’ll see.
