The Vancouver Canucks tried to be aggressive this off-season, but thanks to Rick Dhaliwal, we know of three players they tried and failed to land up front.
This off-season was a busy one for the Vancouver Canucks, as the team re-signed Brock Boeser and Connor Garland while also making some intriguing trades, including the acquisition of veteran winger Evander Kane.
However, the team tried to make many more moves to improve this team after struggling mightily in 2025/26, but barring any unforeseen circumstances, this is the lineup that they'll enter the new season with.
Now, on the latest episode of the Donnie and Dahli podcast, Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal names three players that the Canucks tried hard to land this summer, but unfortunately couldn't for one reason or another.
They went after Rossi, didn't get close, they went after Roslovic...decided to back off; Mason McTavish they would love to get in Vancouver, but he's too pricey.
According to Dahliwal, those three players were Marco Rossi, Jack Roslovic and Mason McTavish, who the team aggressively tried to pursue, but simply came up short.
Rossi has already re-signed with the Wild, Roslovic remains a free agent, and according to all reports, the asking price for McTavish is too high, so unfortunately, the team couldn't land any of their top targets.
It makes sense that all three are centres, as the team has major question marks at the position beyond Elias Pettersson this coming season, and while hopes are high for Filip Chytil, if the team are making a post-season push, don't be shocked to see them make another aggressive push to upgrade down the middle.
