Evander Kane struggled in the Stanley Cup Finals, and now with the Oilers looking to make changes, it appears he's on the way to a rival Canadian team.

The Edmonton Oilers came up short in two straight Stanley Cup Finals, and while the team aren't expecting to make any changes with their superstars, it appears as though they're open to making some changes.

Those changes have clearly already begun, as top NHL insider Elliotte Friedman dropped a bombshell on Wednesday morning, revealing that the team are set to move Evander Kane.

According to Friedman, the team are working on a deal that would send Kane to a fierce division rival in the Vancouver Canucks, and while it's currently unclear what the return would be, clearing that salary cap space would be key for the Oilers.

While Kane played well upon return from LTIR this season, he struggled mightily in the Stanley Cup Finals, with a slashing call to end his season showing the highs and lows that come with Kane.

In his last full healthy season, Kane had 24 goals and 44 points in this loaded Oilers top-six, and with Vancouver looking to get Elias Pettersson back to full confidence, this may be their move to make it happen.

Until we know the return, it's hard to know whether this was a good deal for either side, but with Kane announcing the move on social media, his time in Edmonton has come to a close, as he now begins the next chapter of his NHL career.

For Edmonton, this gives them a chance to pursue a top goaltender in the off-season with more salary cap space cleared in this deal, and if fans were worried they'd run it back again, they've shown now that they're ready to make big moves.
