With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Alex Turcotte!

Birthplace: Elk Grove, Illinois

Height: 5’11

Weight: 195 lbs

Position: Center/Wing

Shoots: Left

Draft: 1st round, 5th overall, 2019 NHL Draft

2025-26 season

After posting 25 points in a limited role in the 2024-25 season, Alex Turcotte couldn’t build off that in the 2025-26 season. The 2026-27 season was another rough one in Turcotte’s pro career.

He was placed on the injured reserve (IR) before the Olympic break with an upper-body injury, and suffered another injury that forced him to miss the final eight games. He also saw his role reduced, even with the trade of centerman Phillip Danault. The hope seemed to be that Turcotte and Samuel Helenius would get more of an elevated role with the departure of Danault, but that idea never got its feet off the ground.

In the end, Turcotte recorded 14 points in 62 games with an average ice time of 10:50.

2026-27 outlook

It’s tough to figure out what Turcotte’s role will be. Is he a center or wing? He’s not going to slide into the top six and produce the points. The path to an everyday role for Turcotte looks to be on the fourth line, with a slim chance of being on the third line, but lineup spots may have him blocked.

I get the feeling the organization is higher on Helenius handling fourth-line center duties at this point, and the Kings have an abundance of veteran wingers, which could push him down to the fourth line. The former fifth overall pick hasn’t, and probably unfortunately won’t, live up to his draft status due to injuries. Could time be running out for him as a King? Time will tell.
