Arguably the best NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, just made a fascinating statement about Ivan Demidov. It really makes you believe that the Montreal Canadiens' top prospect could join the team as early as this season.
Imagine how huge that would be for the playoff race.
Adding to previous speculation that Demidov joining the Canadiens has become a possibility, Elliotte Friedman said this:
Elliotte Friedman on Ivan Demidov signing with the Habs after his SKA season ends:
"It sure seems like the Montreal Canadiens are hopeful it's gonna work out.
"Obviously, they've done everything they can to make it that it's going to work out.
"I know several people who've gone to watch him play this year and they say he's an absolute stud.
"He is as good as advertised. He understands why both the Canadiens and their fans are excited to have him."

Friedman is clearly stating here that the Montreal Canadiens "are quite hopeful" of bringing Demidov into their lineup as early as this season.
Imagine how huge that would be in this highly competitive NHL playoff race.
As we mentioned in our previous article, this has happened before between an NHL team and SKA St. Petersburg, notably with Vladislav Gavrikov in 2019.
