On Thursday night, as the Boston Bruins were taking on the New York Islanders, a scary incident occurred involving Bruins Matt Poitras that left fans speechless.
Poitras was circling around the New York Islanders bench, heading back to his own for a change, when New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson shoved him into the boards.
For some reason, the Islanders backup goaltender decided to open the door to the Islanders bench while Nelson was checking Poitras.
This caused Poitras to awkwardly collide into the open door, and was left there in pain.
Poitras would end up leaving the game, and later on the Boston Bruins revealed that he was not likely to return to the game.
Here is a look at the play.
Following the game, interim head coach Joe Sacco did not have an update on Matt Poitras.
Friday morning, however, the Boston Bruins received some amazing news regarding Poitras, as he was present for the team's morning skate.
This is huge for the Bruins, which are already without Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm and Trent Frederic, all of whom are dealing with injuries right now.
