Mitch Marner appears set for free agency this summer, and now, after ignoring the Maple Leafs negotiations, he could be headed west to Vegas.
Recently, a report emerged that Mitch Marner was officially done with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but now, a new report from Elliotte Friedman has suggested the team are still trying to negotiate, although it appears Marner is set on ignoring them and hitting the free agency market.
On top of that, Friedman notes that former teammates of Marner believe he is set to head West, noting that the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights may be the two most likely landing destinations for the star winger.
While the Kings would be a good team for Marner, it's hard to ignore the Golden Knights, who seem to get their man every single time, and with the team set up for a deep Stanley Cup Playoffs run, all eyes are now on them to be Mitch Marner's next team.
With Jack Eichel and Marner potentially leading the way on this top line, it's clear that the Golden Knights could be a Stanley Cup favourite in the Western Conference, and Marner could likely see that too, looking at that opportunity as one that could help him finally go deep in the post-season.
Ultimately, it's no surprise that Toronto want to negotiate with Marner, as he was one of the teams best players for a long, long time, but it appears after all the failure and all the pressure, he wants a new start, so don't be surprised to see Mitch Marner in the Western Conference next year as he looks to find a new home in the NHL.
