Panthers coach Paul Maurice recently revealed how he feels about Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, stating how his team gets desensitized by their skill.

Paul Maurice led the Florida Panthers to three Prince of Wales trophies and a Stanley Cup, with a second title on the horizon as they face the Edmonton Oilers in this year's Final.

With 1,930 regular-season games coached in 27 seasons, Maurice's longevity and toughness are well-documented.

Saturday morning, following the team's morning skate, Maurice stated the current Panthers were the greatest team he has ever had the pleasure to coach, and even better than the Stanley Cup champions from last season.

'I'm really careful and I'm not being disrespectful to the other teams I've coached, but the team here is just the best team I've ever coached,' Maurice said. 'It's really not that close.'

For all his verbosity, he admitted that he was struggling to find the words to express how much he enjoyed being part of this team and their wild ride.

Maurice took over a team that captured the Presidents' Trophy in 2021-22, but were shocked by a second-round playoff loss. GM Bill Zito decided that things needed to change at the helm.

The Panthers faltered early with Maurice, finishing as a playoff eighth seed, but then went on to stage the surprise Stanley Cup Final run, and now they are back at it, year after year, it seems.

Maurice knows and admitted how talented the Oilers also are

The Panthers are not the only elite team that boasts incredible talent, and Maurice knows that. He shocked fans once again by giving rightful credit to Oilers superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.

He spoke to their greatness so far beyond the norm, with his own team 'desensitized' to how dominant and elite they are.

'You become desensitized to how good those two players are. You can do all things right and still not stop them.»

- Paul Maurice

His words captured both his vast respect for tremendous talent and the unique task ahead of him. Wednesday night in Edmonton is Game 1, and fans no longer can wait for the puck to be dropped.
