San Jose Sharks Place Three on Waivers

The San Jose Sharks dropped their second preseason game last night, 2-1 in a shootout, to the Golden Knights. They’re currently averaging 1.5 goals per game while allowing four goals per game through the first two preseason games. This afternoon, they announced they placed forwards Ethan Cardwell and Tye Felhaber, along with defenseman Libor Hajek, on waivers with plans to send them to the Barracuda in the AHL.

Cardwell has appeared in both preseason games, averaging roughly 17:07 TOI between the two games. He had an assist in Sunday’s loss and was a plus-one. Felhaber only played in Sunday’s loss, where he had 17:01 TOI and was a plus-one with a shot on goal. Hajek also played Sunday, where he had 18:21 TOI but was a minus-three with a penalty.

Cardwell last season appeared in seven games for the Sharks, scoring a goal and was a minus-three. He also played in 24 games for the Barracuda, where he had 15 points on seven goals and eight assists. He was a plus-two with a power-play goal and two game-winning goals.

Felhaber appeared in 63 games for the Colorado Eagles in the AHL, where he had 31 points on 15 goals and 16 assists. He was a plus-five with two power-play goals, three shorthanded goals, and five game-winning goals. In 17 playoff games, he had three goals, four assists, and was a plus-nine.

Hajek spent last season in Czechia playing with HC Dynamo Pardubice. In 44 games, he had 13 points on six goals and seven assists. He was a plus-six with 41 penalty minutes. He had three assists in 17 playoff games and was a minus-four.
