Watch: Patrick Kane scores OT winner in return to Chicago

Patrick Kane made his first return to Chicago as a visiting player on Sunday and ended the game in the most fitting way possible — by scoring the game-winning goal for his new team in the Detroit Red Wings' 3-2 overtime win.

Kane received a pass at center ice and went in on a clean breakaway, slowing up at the last minute before roofing a shot under the crossbar to beat Blackhawks goalie Petr Mrazek.

Have a look:

Kane was traded to the New York Rangers during the 2022-23 season as part of their rebuild. He signed with the Red Wings earlier this season as a free agent after undergoing an offseason hip procedure.

This was his first trip back to Chicago and he received an extended ovation from Blackhawks fans earlier in the day.

He played 16 years in Chicago, scoring 446 goals with 1,225 points. The Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups during that time.
