Wild Stat Emerges That Guarantees the Oilers Will Win Game 5 at Home vs. Panthers

A wild stat has emerged that shows the Oilers are a perfect 5-0 all-time on home ice for Saturday night Stanley Cup Final games, which bodes well for tonight.

Saturday evening, for generations, has been all about Canadian hockey. The roots of the tradition are traced back to the 1930s and NHL radio games, but it became iconic in 1952 when 'Hockey Night in Canada' made its debut on CBC.

Prior to the availability of each game on streaming devices, Saturday night was the time the country gathered around the TV set to view an epic matchup between two foes.

Even to this day, with wall-to-wall coverage of every team, there remains something decidedly unique about Saturday night hockey in Canada. And tonight, June 14, 2025, in Edmonton, that tradition reaches a fever pitch.

Around 6 p.m. local time, the puck drops at Rogers Place for Game 5 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final.

The Edmonton Oilers, led by captain Connor McDavid, host the Florida Panthers with the two sides even at 2-2 after an exhilarating comeback win in Game 4.

To refer to the city as buzzing would be an understatement. The Oilers are only two victories away from their first Stanley Cup since 1990, and Edmontonians can sense it.

History is on their side. The Oilers are 5-0 all-time in Stanley Cup Final games hosted on Saturday nights, scoring 23 and conceding only 7. Safe to say, these have been blowout wins by the blue and orange.

There have been five Stanley Cup Final games involving the Oilers held in Edmonton on a Saturday night, and the home team is a perfect 5-0, outscoring the opposition by a total of 23-7.

Included among the five wins are classics like Game 5 vs. the Islanders in 1984 and last year's Game 4 vs. the Panthers.

With the city now on their side and momentum on their side, the Oilers look to add to this wild stat and improve to a record of 6-0.

It's Saturday night. It's the Stanley Cup Final. And it's taking place in one of the most fervent hockey cities on earth. It doesn't get any better than this.
