Mets' Michael Conforto, Jeff McNeil out until late June with hamstring strains

The New York Mets continue to receive bad news as it pertains to injuries.

Per Pat Ragazzo of Metsmerized Online, New York acting general manager Zack Scott told reporters Monday that outfielder Michael Conforto and second baseman Jeff McNeil are expected to be out until at least late June due to what Scott described as "significant" hamstring strains. Both players injured their hamstrings against the Tampa Bay Rays on May 16 and have been out since.

Conforto was hitting .230 with two home runs and 13 RBI at the time he was sidelined. McNeil, meanwhile, is batting .242 with three homers and eight RBI on the season. They are two of more than a dozen Mets players currently battling injuries.

One positive for the Mets coming off the series defeat at the Miami Marlins over the weekend is that ace Jacob deGrom will take the bump for Tuesday's home tilt against the Colorado Rockies. The two-time National League Cy Young Award winner hasn't made an MLB start since May 9 due to right side tightness but leads the league with a 0.68 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 14.6 strikeouts per nine innings.
