Jeff Hardy's TNA return was inevitable

Jeff Hardy has returned to TNA. The high-flying legend recently hit the free-agent market. His contract with AEW wasn't renewed.

Both Hardy brothers are now working as free agents and project to spend considerable time in TNA's orbit. His return occurred at "TNA Against All Odds."

Matt Hardy was competing for the TNA World Championship.

The move reunites the two brothers, giving TNA one of the most historic tag teams in wrestling history. Once Matt Hardy left AEW, Jeff's eventual free agency was inevitable.

The two brothers have consistently sought to work on the same brand and continue their partnership whenever possible. TNA will provide them with more television time, bigger storylines and opportunities to challenge for titles.

Losing the Hardy brothers will be a tough blow for AEW. While Jeff and Matt are past their primes, they're still a draw among a key demographic. Millennials remember the duo for their high-flying and hard-core matches. AEW's consistently questionable booking is likely a reason why the brothers left the company.

Tony Khan continues to give outside wrestlers more TV time than stars under contract.

Nic Nemeth is another big name currently on TNA programming. The company is slowly building a roster with a sprinkling of nostalgia for hard-core wrestling fans. While it's unlikely that TNA will grow to compete with AEW and WWE, it's certainly providing older wrestlers another option.

The Hardys' future is far from clear. They will likely continue to work with TNA while figuring out their next move. They could have one final run in professional wrestling. Nevertheless, retirement isn't too far away for either of them.

Therefore, it's smart for the Hardy brothers to prioritize a bigger role and more storyline time. After all, they've earned the chance to go out with a bang, regardless of which promotion provides them the opportunity.
