Rubbing Beltre's head was a running joke throughout his storied career, stemming from his tenure with the Seattle Mariners from 2005-09. In an interview with Fox Sports in 2019, Beltre said he told former Seattle pitcher Felix Hernandez he disliked it when people touched his head, which he would later regret.

"That was not a good idea to do that," Beltre said. "[Hernandez] always wanted to do it because he knew I would get mad. Once I left Seattle and went to Boston, he told the other guys to do that because I don’t like it. Then I came [to Texas], and Elvis [Andrus] took charge and started doing it. It became a curse that has never left."

Perhaps it's time for friends and former teammates to pat Beltre on the back instead of touching his head. In 21 seasons with the Dodgers, Mariners, Red Sox and Rangers, he made four All-Star games and hit 477 home runs.

"You know how many third basemen are hanging around Planet Earth with more than 3,100 hits and five Gold Glove Awards? Exactly one: Adrian Beltre," wrote The Athletic's Jayson Stark. "No wonder he just sailed into Cooperstown in his first year on the ballot, with the same percentage of the vote (95.1) as Babe Ruth."

Beltre clearly belongs in the HOF and is receiving the recognition he deserves.
