The New York Knicks' head-coaching search hasn't exactly gone according to plan since firing Tom Thibodeau in the aftermath of their Eastern Conference Finals defeat. But they do have their first potential meetings lined up for next week, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania on Friday night.
According to Charania, the Knicks are expected to meet with former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown regarding their vacancy.
The New York Knicks are planning to meet with ex-Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown next week for their head coaching job, sources tell ESPN. First formal interviews for the Knicks vacancy, and more could come.

Jenkins spent the past six seasons in Memphis, compiling a 250-214 record during that time with three playoff appearances. He was fired by the Grizzlies after 73 games this season despite a 44-29 record and the fact they were headed for a fourth playoff appearance under his watch.
Brown has 11 years of head-coaching experience with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and Kings, taking the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals during the 2006-07 season.
He spent the past two-and-a-half seasons with the Kings before being let go 31 games into this season following a 13-18 start and continued regression from their playoff appearance during the 2022-23 season.
At first glance, both names would seem to be underwhelming given what the Knicks had, and some of the names they have already tried — and failed — to interview. They have already been denied interviews for Billy Donovan, Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, Chris Finch and Quin Snyder.
The Knicks clearly felt they needed a change, but they also had an outstanding coach who took the franchise further than it had been in decades. When you make a change away from that you better be sure you have an upgrade ready to go — or at least easily accessible. So far, the search process has shown they might not. At least not yet. At least not based on the names they are going to start speaking with.
