The New York Yankees accomplished two important second-half firsts on Sunday. They won their first series after the All-Star break, and Aaron Judge went yard for his first home run of the second half of the season.
After splitting the first two games in Atlanta, the Yankees beat the Braves 4-2 to claim their second and the three-game series. New York has now won back-to-back games following Saturday's 12-9 offensive battle, with more of a pitcher's duel.
Judge, who was able to stay in Atlanta after the All-Star Game, actually started off the day by blasting his 36th bomb 409 feet to right center field.

Judge is now tied with Alex Rodriguez for sixth on the Yankees' all-time home run list with 351.
"Just an incredible honor, especially, you know, growing up watching A-Rod for so many years and watching what he did in pinstripes," said Judge after the game about matching a player he grew up idolizing. "He's a legend. One of the best ever players."
Paul Goldschmidt put one more run on the board before the end of the first inning. But 2-0 is where the game would sit until both teams scored in the sixth.
Marcus Stroman, who earned his second win in his seventh start of 2025, gave up only one run off five hits in six innings of work on the mound. He also struck out four batters before handing the ball to the three Yankee relievers, including closer Devin Williams, who recorded his 14th save despite giving up the Braves' other run.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. sent Judge home with an RBI double in the seventh as he continues to have one of his best seasons, especially as far as extra base hits, in his first full year wearing Yankee pinstripes. He's now halfway to his 2024 total in doubles with 21.
With the win, New York is now 55-44 and 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Yankees are exactly three games behind the red-hot Blue Jays, who also won on Sunday to complete a sweep of the San Francisco Giants.
