The New York Giants, who have proven to be one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last few years, shocked everyone who watched Thursday night’s game against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, demolishing them, 34-17.
Despite being led by a strong defense, which had three sacks, seven tackles for loss and three quarterback hits, the main story of the Giants’ victory was their two rookies on offense, quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo. They each had a strong performance and gave Giants fans hope that the future is bright.
Dart and Skattebo combined to score 24 of the Giants' 34 points with rushing touchdowns. Skattebo tallied three rushing scores and 110 total yards, while Dart had 253 total yards, ran for a touchdown and threw for a score.

After his performance, Skattebo moved up to 10th in the NFL in rushing yards (338), three places higher than Eagles star Saquon Barkley (325 yards). Skattebo is also tied for second in the league in rushing touchdowns at five alongside Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook and Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams.
The Giants have not made the playoffs in three seasons after losing in the divisional round to the Eagles in 2022. However, this could change in the next few seasons, with Dart and Skattebo looking like two offensive stars and the defense proving it's one of the better red-zone units (tied for 14th in the NFL with 58.8% red-zone touchdown rate) and having a strong game plan against the rush.
With star receiver Malik Nabers out for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in Week 4, head coach Brian Daboll will rely on Dart to get the Giants' other pass-catchers more involved on offense so that defenses don't focus solely on Skattebo.
Heading into Week 6 against a Denver Broncos team that has one of the best defenses and defensive players in the league in linebacker Nik Bonitto, if the Giants can execute the same plan of attack they had against the Eagles with some minor adjustments, they should be able to get their third win of the season.
