Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith provides injury update before Michigan game

Ohio State  wide receiver Jeremiah Smith said he expects to be back on the field for Saturday's rivalry game against Michigan, providing a boost to the top-ranked Buckeyes offense.

Smith, who missed last week's win over Rutgers due to an undisclosed injury, appeared on the "Downs 2 Business" podcast and stated, "I should be good to go Saturday."

Head coach Ryan Day confirmed Smith and fellow receiver Carnell Tate are progressing, though Tate's status remains unclear.

Jeremiah Smith's injury update ahead of Michigan matchup

The sophomore left the Nov. 15 game against UCLA early and sat out against Rutgers. Day described both players as day-to-day, but Smith's self-assessment offers optimism.

"I'm feeling good," Smith said on the podcast hosted by Buckeyes safety Caleb Downs.

Smith leads Ohio State with 69 receptions for 902 yards and 10 touchdowns, making him a cornerstone of the passing attack. His return adds explosiveness alongside quarterback Julian Sayin, enhancing an offense averaging 37.9 points per game. As a sophomore, Smith's big-play ability could prove decisive in this high-stakes clash.

What to expect in Ohio State-Michigan game

No. 1 Ohio State (11-0, 8-0 Big Ten) travels to Ann Arbor to face No. 18 Michigan (9-2, 7-1 Big Ten), with kickoff at noon ET on Fox. The Buckeyes, unbeaten and atop the College Football Playoff rankings, are 10.5-point favorites.

Ohio State's defense is the nation's best, allowing only 7.6 points per game. Meanwhile, Michigan's offense has faced challenges without key players like running back Justice Haynes in recent weeks.

A victory secures Ohio State's spot in the Big Ten Championship Game, likely against No. 2 Indiana, and bolsters its case for a top College Football Playoff seed. For Michigan, an upset could propel them into the title game and the 12-team playoff field. "The Game" carries historic and personal stakes.
