Jimmy Butler's latest comments spell crisis for Warriors

With the Memphis Grizzlies' win, the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets were already eliminated from the next round of the NBA Cup.

Even so, Wednesday night's matchup served as a good barometer to determine where each team stood, even with Kevin Durant out for Houston. That's why Jimmy Butler was far from satisfied with the Warriors' effort after blowing a 14-point lead for a 104-100 home loss.

Following the game, the former Miami Heat star had one of his signature rants to put his teammates on notice.

Jimmy Butler rips Warriors after another loss

“We don’t box out. We don’t go with the scouting report. We let anybody do whatever they want — open shots, get into the paint, free throws. It’s just sad,” Butler told the media, per ESPN's Anthony Slater.

This isn't the first time that Butler has had some harsh comments about the state of the team this season. Also, he has a long history of incendiary comments and making life uncomfortable in the locker room when things aren't going his way.

That's the last thing the Warriors can afford right now. They already have enough on their plate with the Jonathan Kuminga situation to have another distraction in Butler.

The Warriors failed to address most of their needs in the offseason, and the young players haven't developed in the way they hoped for. As things stand now, they pretty much need Stephen Curry to bail them out on a nightly basis, and that's unsustainable for any 37-year-old. To add insult to injury, Curry left the game limping with a quad injury and might be looking at a multi-game absence.

Butler has already shown his leadership skills, but things can get ugly in the Bay Area if the 10-10 Warriors continue to slide.
