The Pittsburgh Steelers' season is over. They've now lost seven playoff games in a row.
More than that, they haven't really been competitive in any of the losses, which was also the case in a 30-6 home blowout on Monday night.
That's why it only makes sense that people question whether Mike Tomlin will be back for a 20th season in 2026.
When asked about his message to the fan base after another playoff shortcoming, Tomlin had a blunt response.
“Words are cheap. It's about what you do or you don't do,” Tomlin said, per SportsCenter. “People talk too much in our business. You either do or you don't.”
The head coach then added that he hasn't even thought about his next step yet. Instead, he was thinking about what went wrong in the loss to the Houston Texans:
“I’m not even in that mindset as I sit here tonight,” Tomlin said, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I’m more in the mindset of what transpired in this stadium, and certainly what we did and didn’t do. Not a big-picture mentality as I sit here tonight.”
Tomlin clearly is a good coach. He hasn't had a losing season in his 19 years at the helm.
That being said, the Steelers were used to being great, not good. And even though no one can put all of this on the coach, it's been nearly a decade since their last playoff win, and they've been outscored 261-153 in their seven-game postseason losing streak.
