Anthony Davis calls out the media amid trade and injury speculation

The Anthony Davis trade is looking much worse for the Dallas Mavericks by the day. The former NBA champion has only played in 20 games this season after playing for only nine games with them last season.

Davis is dealing with yet another injury. He hurt his hand and is looking at a multi-week absence that will keep him off the court past the February 5 trade deadline.

Initial reports claimed that Davis was probably going to have to undergo surgery. Then, ESPN insider Shams Charania dismissed his previous report by stating that he wouldn’t have to go under the knife.

That’s why, amid all the speculation about his health and his future, Davis took to social media to take a not-so-subtle jab at the media.

“Yall better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!” Davis wrote on X.

Ironically, that didn’t stop Charania from digging deeper into the story. Per the renowned insider, the Mavs are still considering moving on from the former No. 1 pick, even if he’s not healthy by the time they trade him.

“As reported earlier, the Mavericks have had renewed trade talks around Davis with multiple interested teams and those conversations are continuing as Dallas stands 15-25, 12th in the Western Conference, and prioritizing the big-picture outlook around Cooper Flagg,” Charania reported.

Davis is one of the most impactful two-way players on Earth. Per Basketball Reference, he’s averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per game on 50.6 percent from the floor.

Then again, availability is the best of abilities, and it’s hard to believe the Mavericks will get equal value in return in any potential trade for him.
