Even though their imposing defense led the Seattle Seahawks to their dominating 29-13 Super Bowl win, an offensive player was named Super Bowl MVP. Cementing his name into NFL history, Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III earned the Super Bowl MVP honor on Sunday night.
Gashing the New England Patriots' defense for 135 yards on 27 carries, Walker made history with his MVP performance. Walker became the first running back to win Super Bowl MVP in 28 years, the last being when Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis earned the title with the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII.
Since Davis ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in January of 1998, Marshall Faulk powered the "Greatest Show on Turf" to a Super Bowl championship, Jerome Bettis capped off his legendary career with a ring, Marshawn Lynch turned on "beast mode" as the Seahawks won the franchise's first Super Bowl and more recently Saquon Barkley finished off an historic season with a Super Bowl victory last year. However, in a quarterback-driven league, none of them were able to become Super Bowl MVPs.
Instead, it was Walker who broke the drought for the position. And Walker did it in only his fourth NFL season after being selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Walker even made some extra history, becoming only the third running back to record multiple rushes of 25 or more yards in a Super Bowl, joining Timmy Smith from Super Bowl XXII (3) and Marcus Allen in Super Bowl XVIII (2). Walker's longest run against the Patriots totaled 30 yards.

Walker will now try to take his game to another level and try to help the Seahawks go back-to-back, something the franchise came just short of achieving after the last time Seattle won the Super Bowl.
During the 2025 regular season, Walker ran for 1,027 yards with an average of 4.6 yards per touch and scored five touchdowns. Career-wise, he has 3,555 rushing yards off 821 attempts in 59 games.
