Saints' Cameron Jordan takes brutal shot at Jets ahead of free agency

Veteran pass-rusher Cameron Jordan has featured only for the New Orleans Saints since they made him a first-round pick during the 2011 NFL Draft, but the 36-year-old is on track to reach free agency when the new league year opens on March 11.

During a recent chat with TMZ Sports, Jordan strongly suggested that he has no interest in signing with the New York Jets if the Jets come calling about his services next month.

Cameron Jordan advises Saints to leave losing seasons to the Jets

"I hope so," Jordan said about the Saints possibly being able to go on a significant playoff run next season, per Bobby Kownack of the NFL's website. "Isn't that the goal? Ain't nobody going the whole offseason thinking like, man, I hope we just win three games. I'll leave that to the Jets."

The Saints haven't been a model successful NFL franchise as of late, as they recently failed to qualify for the playoffs for a fifth straight year. That said, the Jets reclaimed sole possession of the longest active postseason drought among the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and MLS (15 years) this past December. Some seem to believe Jets head coach Aaron Glenn could lose his job before he completes a second season in his role, and Gang Green has no possible long-term quarterback on its roster.

How Cameron Jordan sees Tyler Shough after Shough's rookie season

Meanwhile, the 2025 Saints went 6-11 with first-year head coach Kellen Moore and rookie Tyler Shough leading the charge. In total, Shough went 5-4 as New Orleans' starting quarterback.

"I'm hoping so," Jordan responded when asked if he thinks Shough could be a long-term franchise quarterback for the Saints. "I think with him, there could be a bright future. Hopefully, we continue to build upon that process that we showed last year."

For a piece published on Feb. 18, Daniel Popper of The Athletic predicted that Jordan will receive a one-year contract worth around $8M in free agency. Jordan insisted while speaking with TMZ that he wants "to be valued," but it remains to be seen if the Saints value him enough to bring him back for another campaign.
