Sidney Crosby moves up all-time list in Penguins' offensive explosion

In a battle between two teams fighting to secure a playoff spot, the Pittsburgh Penguins dominated the New York Islanders to the tune of 8-3 on Monday night.

The Penguins also managed to score all eight goals — their highest output of the season — without any from the returning Sidney Crosby, who missed Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars. But even without scoring, Crosby still contributed and helped generate offense, recording two assists in the game.

And Crosby's pair of helpers helped him make more NHL history, moving up another all-time list. Crosby is now in sole possession of third for the most multi-point games in league history with 514.

Sidney Crosby is now high up on another all-time list

Crosby has now moved past Marcel Dionne after tying the Hockey Hall of Famer earlier in the month on March 18. He has registered 21 multi-point games out of his 62 games played throughout the 2025-26 season alone.

Despite missing time with an injury initially sustained during the Olympics, Crosby has 28 goals and 38 assists for 66 points.

Crosby can only realistically move one rank higher on the list

With most expecting Crosby to return for his 22nd season, he may have a shot at climbing the all-time list again and passing fellow Penguins legend Jaromir Jagr for second. But while Jagr's 540 is within reach, claiming the overall record is not.

As is often the case with most of Wayne Gretzky's records, he's so far and away head of everyone else that his total is out of reach. Gretzky retired with 824 multi-point games, giving him 284 more than Jagr and 310 more than Crosby's current total.

Pittsburgh's latest victory brings its team point total to 90, the most important point total to Crosby since he often says he cares about winning more than any individual accolade.
