A NASCAR Cup Series win that was a long time coming for 23-year-old Ty Gibbs finally happened in his 131st start.
Gibbs held off polesitter Ryan Blaney, who had much fresher tires, in NASCAR overtime to score his first career Cup Series victory. Blaney got loose coming out of the final corner, enabling Gibbs to pull ahead.
"It's awesome," Gibbs told Fox Sports. "I'd have loved for my father [Coy Gibbs] to have seen this. Great day for us. 54 boys didn't give us. Very honored to be in this situation. I thought the race was awesome. I always appreciate racing Ryan Blaney and Kyle [Larson]."
Blaney led Gibbs by one second with 24 laps to go before the caution came out, leading to split strategies. Gibbs stayed out, while Blaney and Larson and both came down pit road.

Gibbs' decision to keep his track position turned out to be the right one.
Another caution with four laps left sent the race into overtime.
Blaney, Larson, points leader Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe rounded out the top five, with Todd Gilliland, Joey Logano, Ryan Preece, Denny Hamlin and Carson Hocevar completing the top 10.
Other notable finishers include Bubba Wallace in 11th, Brad Keselowski in 14th, Chase Elliott in 22nd, Kyle Busch in 25th and Alex Bowman, who made his first start since COTA on March 1 in 37th.
