The Toronto Blue Jays have been plagued by numerous injuries so far this season. But according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson, they may be getting Trey Yesavage back in the starting rotation soon.
The Blue Jays have Jose Berrios, Cody Ponce and Shane Bieber currently on the Injured List. In addition, veteran Max Scherzer has been playing through right forearm tendinitis.
But the 23-year-old Yesavage is set to make another rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on April 15. If that goes smoothly, he could find himself back with the team in the third and final game of the Milwaukee Brewers series.
Yesavage was placed on the injury list on March 25 with a right shoulder impingement.
Trey Yesavage will pitch for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons tomorrow.

He’ll aim for something in the range of 4 innings, 65 pitches. If all goes well, he could return to the #BlueJays after that.
Having Yesavage return to the rotation would lift a huge weight off a Blue Jays rotation that's been struggling. The only two starters who have demonstrated the most consistency have been Kevin Gausman and Dylan Cease.
Yesavage is coming off a dominant 2025 season, where he made a huge meteoric rise in the system. He started last season in Single-A and made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays on September 15. But his career flourished when he was utilized in the postseason.
He had a memorable performance that included recording a franchise-best 11 strikeouts in Game 2 of the ALDS. On top of that, Yesavage became the first rookie since 1949 to earn more than 10 strikeouts in a World Series game.
When Yesavage made two rehab starts for Dunedin, he showcased his dominant strikeout success. He recorded three strikeouts in the first rehab start and then doubled his strikeouts with six punchouts in his second start.
While his pitch count was high (52 pitches) in his second rehab start, the youngster illustrated his progression towards getting back to his form.
Another positive sign from Yesavage has been his velocity management. He's sustained consistent velocities reaching the mid to high 90's.
Yesavage has also been working on generating his strength. His workload has continued to increase with each rehab start to help prepare for his return to the rotation.
He is set to pitch approximately four innings and 65 pitches in his rehab start on April 15, which is a clear sign that he is ready to come back to the majors.
His solid progress during his rehab indicates that he's mirroring his 2025 dominance. The rookie's masterful skills have been missed in a rotation that has been hit with the injury bug early this season.
