49ers make decision on Brandon Aiyuk after the NFL Draft

The San Francisco 49ers made some moves and even added more firepower to their wide receiver corps during the NFL Draft.

All of that without a peep from Brandon Aiyuk. No trades, releases or even an acknowledgment of the elephant in the room.

However, that doesn't mean they've forgotten about him and his value for the organization, even as a trade chip.

That's why, when asked whether they will finally cut him loose after not finding any trade partners during the draft, 49ers GM had a candid and straightforward answer: “Not anytime soon.”

The 49ers won't do Brandon Aiyuk any favors

The 49ers know Aiyuk may have played his last snap for the organization, but they also know he still has some trade value. As such, they won't do him any favors.

“He’s an extremely talented player,” Lynch said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “He’s been an extremely effective player in our league. The situation didn’t work itself out here. That’s not to say that it can’t be rekindled somewhere else. And we’d be happy to do something with anyone, if the opportunity presented itself.”

Aiyuk has been tied to the Washington Commanders for the past couple of months, given his close friendship with former college teammate Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders added Clemson WR Antonio Williams in the third round of the draft, but they can certainly still accommodate Aiyuk if the opportunity comes.

However, it looks like his current team isn't going to budge, so they'll have to give something up if they're truly interested in the former All-Pro wideout.
