NFL analyst seemingly not excited for John Harbaugh era with Giants

John Harbaugh is heading into his inaugural season as the head coach of the New York Giants, and he's already generating buzz around the NFL.

Now, the Giants are getting early hype for what's to come, and their schedule proves it. The NFL released the official 2026-27 schedule last week, and New York is no longer hidden in the games that nobody watches. Instead, the Giants are trending and have four prime-time games on the schedule.

The Giants kick off their season with a Week 1 prime-time matchup on "Sunday Night Football" at home against the Dallas Cowboys. Then, they also play the Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions in prime time.

But, not everybody is buying the hype.

Steven Louis Goldstein of The Athletic calls Giants-Lions game "flex-worthy"

On Saturday, The Athletic's Steven Louis Goldstein said that he doesn't expect to be watching the Giants and Lions go up against each other while eating stale Christmas cookies this holiday season.

He ranked the Giants-Lions Week 16 matchup, which is scheduled for Dec. 28, at the bottom of ESPN and ABC's "Monday Night Football" roster.

"Barring a massive overachievement in Harbaugh's debut, this late-season draw feels eminently flex-worthy," Goldstein stated.

So, Goldstein sees this game as being flexed, with a lack of interest by the time it rolls around. But it's pretty wild to make that projection. The buzz around Harbaugh and Jaxson Dart has helped the Giants land four nationally televised matchups, including that Week 1 stunner, so there's obviously a strong interest in watching the Giants.
