Game 7s are always exciting, and NBA fans were treated to a high-stakes Game 7 on Saturday, where the San Antonio Spurs took down the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 111-103 final tally during the Western Conference Finals.

Now, the Spurs will take on the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals, and tensions are high. But, looking back at the final Spurs and Thunder game in their series, both teams can be proud about a certain stat that's surfaced.

People were interested in the game, so much so that the Spurs-Thunder Game 7 reached historic numbers. Now, the NBA is announcing news on the matchup.

NBA shares big news about Spurs-Thunder Game 7 matchup

According to NBA Communications, the Spurs vs. Thunder Game 7 clocked historic numbers on social media.

"Game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder has surpassed 2 billion views across social media platforms, becoming the most-viewed NBA game ever on social," NBA Communications announced.

They add that the series "now owns the two most-viewed NBA games ever on social, with Game 1 reaching 1.9 billion views."

With excitement at a fever pitch, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Knicks and Spurs series also break records, especially if it becomes a close series that goes into Game 6 or Game 7.

The NBA Finals will bring together two superstars: Spurs' Victor Wembanyama and Knicks' Jalen Brunson. They're two of the biggest names in the NBA right now, and that will also draw more attention. Game 1 is set for Wednesday evening at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
