The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs will kick off the 2026 NBA Finals on Wednesday with Game 1, and much of the focus of the Finals is already centered on Spurs' Victor Wembanyama and Knicks' Jalen Brunson.
While Brunson has been gaining attention in the NBA for a few years with the Knicks, Wembanyama is really having his breakout season. In Game 7 of the team's series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Wembanyama finished the game with 22 points and seven rebounds, securing the Western Conference Finals MVP award.
So, what does Brunson think of Wembanyama, and can the Spurs star be contained?
Speaking with the press on Tuesday, Brunson gave his honest take on the Spurs star. According to Sports Illustrated reporter Tom Petrini, Brunson said, "Watching him as a player, it's pretty unbelievable."
"Things he's able to do both sides of the ball, obviously people have never really seen before, for a person of his size, so it's incredible to watch from a fan's perspective," Brunson added. "As an opposing player. It's something you constantly have to be on watch for."
He continued: "You just never know the things that he's capable of doing, and so that's why game planning and our game-plan discipline and our attention to details are so important when it comes to playing him, because he's pretty incredible."

It's certainly the case that Wembanyama has been doing unimaginable things on the court during the NBA postseason, but so has Brunson. This matchup is shaping up to be epic when it comes to the superstars on the court.
