A.J. Brown makes wild claim about his first Patriots practice

After months of thinking it was going to happen and then it just not getting over the finish line, the Philadelphia Eagles finally traded wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots.

The news broke on Monday that the Eagles were trading Brown to the Patriots for a first-round draft pick in 2028 and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

It all happened so quickly, even after months of guessing, and Brown has already had his first practice with the Patriots. So, what did he think of stepping on the field in New England?

A.J. Brown discusses first practice with the Patriots

Brown spoke up after his first official practice with the Patriots on Tuesday and made a wild remark about his time with the team. He said that it was like being in heaven.

"I'm just still in awe," Brown told reporters after practice. "Walking up the hill with the uniform on, I was like, 'This is real.' Caught myself at one point in practice, I wasn't paying attention because I was like, 'Dang. I'm a Patriot.'"

He added: "Just trying to take it all in as much as I can. Obviously, I got back to work quickly. But there's levels to it. I'm enjoying it. Obviously, I know this ain't heaven, but it's close to it."

It's rare when a player in the NFL gets to play for the team he grew up rooting for, but that's the case with Brown. On Tuesday, he shared that he grew up a Patriots fan, and when they didn’t draft him in 2019, he actually cried. But that's water under the bridge, and Brown is home, ready to help this team get back to the Super Bowl.
