Jalen Brunson addresses invitation to White House

The New York Knicks finally ended a five-decade drought to win their third NBA championship.

Led by Jalen Brunson, Mike Brown's team took down the San Antonio Spurs to win their first title since 1973, also earning the right to visit the White House, like all champions.

Knicks owner James Dolan, a good friend of Donald Trump, already claimed the team had accepted the invitation.

However, that might not be the case, as Brunson just confirmed they haven't even had that discussion yet.

Knicks haven't made a decision about White House visit

“That’s something that we actually haven’t discussed as a team,” Brunson told Variety. “And so obviously, people are making assumptions and saying everything, but together we haven’t discussed it yet. And so we’ll cross our bridge when we get to it.”

Notably, by going, the Knicks would become the first NBA team to visit the White House during Donald Trump's presidency.

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors opted not to visit the White House during Trump's first term. Teams from other major sports tournaments have been in attendance.

Of course, Brunson didn't want to get into details or share his own views on politics or the administration; that's his right, and it wasn't relevant to the discussion.

That said, it was interesting to see him pretty much deny what James Dolan said shortly after winning the championship. 

For now, Brunson and the Knicks are solely focused on strengthening the team and getting back to the mountaintop next season.
